THE MAKING OF...
After several attempts at searching for a place to set up the cat shelter, we finally found a landlord who is willing to rent the unit to us to foster cats and also complied with regulations. We started renovating the space on March 3, 2022, and officially opened the shelter on April 22, 2022. If you build it, they will come.

DESIGNING THE LAYOUT
We started with an empty space that is 1,300 sq ft and decided we needed to build 3 rooms and 3 cat condos that can house 6 cats. Cozy Cat Cottage donated a cat condo to us that they were replacing but still in good condition, enabling us to place 4 more cats in an isolated space if needed.

RENOVATING THE SPACE
Renovations went smoothly. After the rooms were completed, the painting was next. Electricals, plumbing, lighting, furniture and upgrades followed then the cat condos were built.

PREPPING FOR INTAKE
Prepping for the intake meant ensuring a protocol in place for intake, adequate supplies, schedule of volunteers, and our continued commitment to help cats through our shelter or with other rescues we find.

OPEN HOUSE
The Open House finally took off on April 22, 2022. We had a good turnout and also live-streamed the event. We have intentionally set up the shelter to have a relaxing atmosphere where you can come visit and hang out with the cats and have a great time.
